RAYNE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
The LAW regarding Mini Motos. If you are thinking of buying a Mini Moto for yourself, or for someone you know, please note that they are NOT a toy! Also ask yourself - "Do you know the Law relating to these vehicles"? You may think twice before buying one - as you must ensure that when you drive them you are abiding by the Law relating to such vehicles. Mini Motos / Scooters cannot be used on the road or in a public place without insurance or a valid driving licence. These vehicles should only be used on private land (with the permission of the landowner - who must have the appropriate public liability insurance). The driver must have a valid full driving licence, road tax, MOT (where appropriate) and car insurance. The Police can report the owner for NO insurance; NO tax, NO MOT, and the drivers will receive penalty points on the licence or future licence. The Police have the powers to seize any offending vehicle, but only after a warning has been given to that person. Any warning given will remain in force for twelve months. It does not have to be given in respect of the same vehicle. The vehicle cannot be seized unless the warning has been ignored. Once a first warning has been given, if the vehicle is seen again acting in a manner, which causes alarm, distress or annoyance it will be seized. Once the vehicle is seized it will cost £105 to get it back, plus an extra £12 per day. If anyone sees a person riding a Mini Moto / scooter, in the manner, which may be considered dangerous or causes alarm, distress or annoyance, please they should call their local Police Station.
