Good lighting in a house while you are away can put off a potential burglar.  Many householders already have exterior lights with an infrared sensor which switches on the light for a short period of time as a person approaches the house.

In addition to this it is possible to use a time switch to turn on interior lights, radios and other appliances when you are away from home to make it appear that the house is occupied.

These time switches can be set to switch the lights and/or appliances on and off daily at times to suit you during the day or night.
