Rayne Family History Group
Researching your family history has recently become an increasingly popular pastime. The Rayne Village Society has established a group of interested like-minded people to discuss and help each other with their family research. The first meeting was held on 22nd August 2007 when members discussed various methods of and approaches to researching their family history. The experience range of members varied between about a year to 40 years or more. It was interesting to see how everyone is at different stages with their research.
The group is not limited to those researching ancestors in Rayne and in fact most are researching people from all round the country. There is however, a project to trace and put together the Victorian family history of Rayne. If you are interested or can add details then please make contact. Webmaster@Rayne-info.org.uk
The next meeting will be on Monday 16th August 7:30pm at 12A Brunwin Road (right). If you are interested, please ring Maurice on 326742 or email the Webmaster and messages will be passed on.
Occasionally people outside the village find this website when looking for Rayne ancestors. The latest of these is from Nina, formerly Grout, who was born just outside the Rayne boundary in Gilda Terrace, but her father's mother was born in Rayne. She is linked to other names found in the village, in particular Lancaster, her grandmother, Olley and Hornsby who married the Lancaster family.
