Once again the visit in May of our friends from Verberie was voted an outstanding success, both by our visitors and their hosts.  Saturday evening was spent with the hosts with an opportunity for longstanding friendships to catch up with the latest news and new members to become acquainted.  On Sunday morning members and their guests travelled in two coaches to Hatfield House for the annual Living Crafts Fair, the largest event of its kind in Europe.  Fortunately the weather defied forecasters and the sun shone while we were free to wander round the various marquees with their high standards of crafts (the Morris Men were a popular feature with our visitors), tour Hatfield House itsefl, stroll through the gardens or look at the exhibition of Model Soldiers. In the evening a highly enjoyable social event was held in the Village Hall where we were entertained by Cameleon, an extremely talented group of young musicians and a bi-lingual quiz held by our quizmaster, John Walker. It was with sadness that we said farewell to our visitors on the Monday morning - however, we are all looking forward to our return visit to Verberie next year." All previous entries for the Parish Magazine have been forwarded to the webmaster address. Sheila Rayne Twinning Association 6-10-06 On Sunday, 26th September, 32 Twinners from Rayne spent an enjoyable sunny day in France with our friends from Verberie. After a late arrival in Guines, due to road diversions and negotiating a rather narrow canal bridge, the members of the two committees had a short meeting to discuss next year's programme while the non-committee members were able to wander around the delightfully picturesque St Joseph Craft Village. A local traditional meal was followed by dancing to the music of an accordion player by the more energetic amongst us. The two coaches then drove to Desvres, a ceramic pottery village, where we saw some of this extremely beautiful hand-painted pottery both in the excellent museum and in one of the showrooms. A very interesting day - enjoyed by all who participated. NB. The dates for our visit to Verberie next year will be from 26th - 28th May. If you are not already a member of the Twinning Association and would be interested in joining us, please contact one of the committee members.
