Local Weather  2007

The following data has been collected by John Walker located on the boundary of Rayne and Braintree Green.

January   Starting with a damp but mild month so far.

Rainfall Rainfall

Average Monthly Rainfall

Averaged over a number of years we can see the pattern of rainfall through the year (orange shaded area).

January this year had about a quarter of the recent average rainfall, February less than three-quarters and March about two-thirds.  If that is typical of the rest of the country then no wonder that some areas now have hose-pipe bans.   2006 figures are shown for comparison.

Temp Temperatures

Average Monthly Temperature

The average temperatures for each month show a much more even seasonal variation with January - February the coldest months and July - August the warmest.   The year has started with unusually mild weather and the forecasters expect another record-breaking year.
