Chateau d'Aramont
Chateau d'Aramont, Verberie
The Chateau makes a fine setting
for official receptions.
In 1994 Rayne was Twinned with Verberie, a small town situated on the River Oise, on the edge of the Forest of Compiegne, north east of Paris.
Since the first visit strong friendships have been forged between the people of Rayne and the people of Verberie.  In addition to the various official visits, members of the Twinning Associations arrange their own private exchanges.
Official exchange visits alternate each year between the two countries, with our Verberie friends visiting Rayne in 2003.  At each visit an evening reception is arranged so that everyone can get together and renew old friendships; an excursion is also usually arranged to give people an opportunity of seeing some of the other country.
In addition to the main visits the two committees meet once a year for a joint committee meeting, again in alternate countries; other twinners are also welcome to meet on these occasions as there is a usually convivial lunch arranged and the venue is suitable for those not attending the committee meeting.  In 2003 the meeting was held on September 21st in England.
Additional visits for young people take place during the holiday periods.

given posh housing !Pigeonnier
The BridgeThis very ordinary looking iron bridge, at the entrance to Verberie from the motorway, looks so very different at night with it's reflection in the river Oise below.
The Oise gives it's name to the region.
